Andy Lovell was born in East London. He studied at Liverpool School of Art and Design (1983-86) where he specialised in illustration and printmaking. He has had numerous commissions for newspapers, magazines and books and has regular exhibitions of his prints (mainly monotypes and silkscreen prints), which have become the main focus of his work. Drawing and painting from life form the starting point for his images which are then honed, simplified and transformed through print.
