Nestling at the centre of the Cotswold Way, Painswick, also known as the Queen of the Cotswolds, has a rich cloth and wool history dating back to the medieval period. Home of the oldest working Post Office in Britain circa 1428. Painswick also houses the spectacular St Mary's Church, parts of which date back to the early Norman period. A short walk up Gloucester Street will bring you to the famous Rococo Gardens, a sole survivor of early 18th century English Rococo Garden Design. We also have an Iron Age Hill Fort, 500 to 100 BC that lies at the top of Painswick Beacon and is well worth a visit.
