Ray graduated from the University of Gloucestershire in 2002 with a BA in Fine Art Painting. Since then he has spent his time working in Studios in Spain, Cheltenham, Witcombe, Stroud and now Painswick. He has exhibited nationally and throughout his home region of Gloucestershire. His current body of work is inspired by the natural world. The colours and textures found in land sea and sky are worked and manipulated to create an effect that is almost dream like, often using heightened colours. Using the imagination and external reality to create a landscape that is familiar and yet not of any particular place. The images are vibrant and explore the relationship between a real and heightened landscape using colour and texture as a narrative tool.
